When I studied at TCD there was a word quite used among my research
group: losertech
. From Urban Dictionary:
Losertech is something that is entirely worthless, be it a company, a concept, a theme... anything really. Can be liberally applied when denigrating a person's work, hopes, faith, ambitions, etc.
During all these years I've had the "pleasure" of working with several technologies that definitely fit the description. Here is a list of them in no particular order:
- PHP
- MySQL < 5.6
- Wordpress
- Drupal
- Sencha
- TurboGears
- HipChat
- Microsoft Teams
- Confluence
- SAML
- SOAP
- XML
- XML-RPC
- XSL-Whatever
- Bluetooth IoT
- Couchbase
- JavaFX
- JSP
- Tuya
- AWS Cognito
- AWS Amplify
- Boeing after the 777
- Captcha
- Chromecast (hardware)
- Rate this app requests
- Cookie notice
- Virtual land
- Managed retool
- systemd
- SDD: Sales Driven Development
- NetSuite
And countless others... I will add them as I remember.
