When I studied at TCD there was a word quite used among my research group: losertech. From Urban Dictionary:

Losertech is something that is entirely worthless, be it a company, a concept, a theme... anything really. Can be liberally applied when denigrating a person's work, hopes, faith, ambitions, etc.

During all these years I've had the "pleasure" of working with several technologies that definitely fit the description. Here is a list of them in no particular order:

  • PHP
  • MySQL < 5.6
  • Wordpress
  • Drupal
  • Sencha
  • TurboGears
  • HipChat
  • Microsoft Teams
  • Confluence
  • SAML
  • SOAP
  • XML
  • XML-RPC
  • XSL-Whatever
  • Bluetooth IoT
  • Couchbase
  • JavaFX
  • JSP
  • Tuya
  • AWS Cognito
  • AWS Amplify
  • Boeing after the 777
  • Captcha
  • Chromecast (hardware)
  • Rate this app requests
  • Cookie notice
  • Virtual land
  • Managed retool
  • systemd
  • SDD: Sales Driven Development
  • NetSuite

And countless others... I will add them as I remember.
